Decorating your boat or nautical room

Destinada - 27ft Tartan Sailboat
So we bought a boat.

Mark & I are keen to spend time back on the water. Destinada is lovely a 27ft Tartan Sailboat and we are very excited about the future sailing her.

We will be around Muskoka for the summer season, but taking off down the inland waterways in September from Fairhaven, MA (her home port on land for the summer)  to....who knows.

So I am starting to look around for ways to decorate my little boat to live on.  One of my absolute favourite etsy sellers is Private Dock. Save your pennies for her exquisite work - one day I hope to have several of her pieces.

DagaFreya is so talented. You will find in her etsy shop Private Dock the most wonderful creations and her work is on the top of my wish list - for the home and our little boat.

Time to keep looking.

Cheers for now

Nautical Nursery Ideas

So having looked at all the great items available to help you with a baby shower...I came across such cool work for decking out a Nursery. It seems an idea to follow on with that theme!

Thinking this is just for the little boys in your life? No way! Take a look at these items InAnInstantArt on etsy. These would look great in your girl or boy's nautical room. These wonderful decals are customized to have their name included.

Need shelving? Why not go to Ed and Kim of Palmer Falls Designs on etsy. They have some great rope shelving and some great wooden fishes to add to the design.

Every child needs a nursery rhyme, the JustBeachyShop on etsy solves that problem with their sign. This is a favourite nursery rhyme of mine from my childhood.

Every child needs cuddly toy from BakerBaby on etsy and this whale is just so cute.

The options are endless for setting up your nautical nursery. I hope you enjoyed seeing just a few etsy sellers shops. Why not take a look at my Pinterest nautical nursery for more ideas.

Cheers

Nautical Baby Showers

Coming from the UK, baby showers aren't big - my sister wouldn't have one much to the upset of her friends.

However, here in North America they are HUGE!

There are such cool ideas for showers.

Organising it yourself? Let these sellers from etsy help.

PapaCrabPaperie has some excellent party packs for you to download. The party packs include banners, cupcake toppers, editable food labels, favor tags, straw flags, water bottle labels and scrap book paper for place mats  (cool invitation sold separately).

Every party needs a cake - at a Baby Shower a diaper cake is an excellent way to be practical and fun. MsPerks creates these wonderful nautical diaper cakes. A work of art!

Then on to favors...

Yummy chocolate shells are a great idea for this theme, these are from Island Girl Gourmet - made from high quality chocolate.

Need something to put your chocolates in? These boxes come ready assembled from Paperlette Designs , they look as if they will sail away.

So next you need a gift...
This set of organic clothing from The Line by Ale Mulcahy for baby works great with the theme. Won't baby look sharp?   A real sailor.

With the help of these sellers you can have a stylish nautical baby shower. I have more ideas on my baby shower pinterest board

Enjoy yourselves!

Manila Mat

One of my favourite items to make is an Ocean Mat.

This is one of the first knots I make and I just love listening to the radio (CBC) and making these mats.

How does it look?

I sell these on my website and they are just the best mats. As you can see I need a little bit of help with my cans to weigh it down as I am pulling the 100ft of rope through.

My doormat is sat with glue resting at the moment. The glue with wears off as you use it, but helps it keep it's shape at first.

Cheers

Place Setting Ideas

Spring is here and hopefully outside dining - a great and easy place setting idea has been circulated on blogs and on pinterest and I thought I would try it out - it looks great and so simple.

1 piece of 1/4 inch rope, 11 inches long - this could be trimmed down too. I think this'll be a winner around my house this Summer.
